Mission of the Department of Law

Our mission in the Department of Law is to train qualified legal scholars who are deeply specialized in the field of law, capable of critical thinking and innovative solutions based on academic research and knowledge production. In this direction, we adopt the following goals:
1) Developing Advanced Research Skills: To provide our students with advanced research skills, to develop their independent and critical thinking skills, and to enable them to contribute to science by conducting innovative studies in the field of law.
2) Production and Dissemination of Scientific Knowledge: To encourage our students to contribute to the production of scientific knowledge and to disseminate this knowledge on national and international platforms by supporting their ability to conduct academic research.
3) Interdisciplinary Cooperation and Exchange: By collaborating with different disciplines and encouraging the exploration of the interaction and intersection of law with other fields, we train researchers with a broad perspective.
4) Ethical Values and Professional Responsibility: By emphasizing the principles of research ethics and professional responsibility, we ensure that our students observe fundamental values such as honesty, respect and justice in their scientific work.
5) Solution-Oriented Approach to Social Problems: We plan our research to produce solutions to social problems and emphasize the basic principles of law such as social justice and human rights.
6) Defending Universal Values of Law: To create awareness in society and strengthen these values by defending universal values such as justice, equality, human rights and the rule of law, which are the basic principles of law.
7) International Cooperation and Academic Exchange: By establishing collaborations with international academic institutions, research centers and industrial partners, our students are provided with an international perspective and international academic exchange opportunities are offered.
8) Student Mentoring and Support: We provide mentoring and guidance to our doctoral students by academicians who are experts in their fields, support their academic and professional development and guide their thesis studies.
9) Professional Leadership and Innovation: By preparing our students for professional leadership roles, we enable them to conduct research that encourages innovation in the field of law.

Vision of the Department of Law
Our vision in the Department of Law is to be a centre where internationally recognised academicians who contribute to the accumulation of knowledge in the field of law by conducting pioneering research, adopt ethical values and contribute to society are trained. Our vision is based on the following basic principles:
1) Global Perspective and Practice-Oriented Education: We increase the global competitiveness of our students with courses and programmes that emphasise a global perspective in areas such as international law, human rights and environmental law. In addition to theoretical knowledge, we provide practical training opportunities such as internships, seminars and workshops, enabling our students to develop their skills in the practice of law and gain professional experience.
2) Advanced Research and Knowledge Generation: We encourage our students to conduct advanced research in order to equip them to solve problems in the field of law and offer new perspectives. We provide support for the researches to contribute to the accumulation of knowledge and to be recognised internationally.
3) Multidisciplinary Approach: Through integrated studies with other disciplines with which we cooperate, we provide our students with a versatile perspective and encourage them to specialise in different fields.

Aim of the Department
The aim of the Department of Law is to educate qualified legal scholars and academicians who have advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and can conduct independent research. In line with this aim, we adopt the following objectives:
1) High Level Academic Education: To provide doctoral students with comprehensive training in advanced theoretical knowledge and research methods.
2) Original Research Skills: To encourage students to conduct original research in the field of law by developing their advanced research skills independently and presenting new knowledge and perspectives in the field of law.
3) Publication and Presentation Competence: To increase the competence of students to make qualified academic publications and to make presentations at international level.
4) Teaching Skills: To provide students with teaching skills in the field of law and to strengthen their capacity to teach in academic or professional settings in the future.
5) Professional Leadership and Innovation: Preparing students for professional leadership roles and enabling them to conduct research that promotes innovation in the field of law.

Legal Consultancy: Graduates can generally work in their areas of specialization by undertaking various tasks in internship law offices. They can also work as legal consultants in companies or organizations of various scales.
Corporate Services: Graduates can be employed in various positions in corporate organizations. These areas include the public sector where public services are provided to the public.
Private Sector: Large businesses, banks, insurance companies and other corporate entities hire legal specialists for positions such as internal legal advisors, legal affairs managers or contract specialists.
International Organizations and Diplomacy: Institutions such as international organizations, embassies and consulates may offer employment opportunities for legal professionals. In these fields, there are often opportunities to specialize in international law and diplomacy. Such organizations may include the United Nations, the European Union, environmental protection agencies, human rights organizations and non-governmental organizations.

Lesson Procedure
Courses in the department are conducted through an internet-based Learning Management System (LMS), offering students the opportunity to learn using the distance education model. This allows students to attend classes and complete the program online. More information about the functioning of the LMS-based program is provided below:
1) Online Course Material: The course material of the program is available on the LMS platform. Students can access lecture notes, slides, videos, reading material and other resources.
2) Video Lectures: Teaching is supported by video lecture recordings. Students can watch these videos online and have the opportunity to understand the course content.
3) Live Lectures and Webinars: Some programs organize live lectures or webinars. Students can participate in these live sessions and interact with their instructors.
4) Interactive Discussion and Forums: The LMS provides students with interactive discussion boards and forums. These platforms allow students to ask questions about the course and exchange views with other students.

Programs conducted using an Internet-based LMS offer students the opportunity to study regardless of geographical and time constraints.
